HİSTORY

The department was founded at the Institute of Geography, Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR on the initiative of academician H.A. Aliyev in 1969.

It began its activities at the first department of “Protection of Nature” in the system of Academy of Sciences of the former USSR.

The first head of the department was Professor A.J. Eyubov, and then it was headed by corresponding members of the AS of Azerbaijan K.A. Alekberov, Sh.B. Khalilov.

DIRECTIONS OF RESEARCHES AND THEMES

 Elucidation of ecogeographical state of region of the Azerbaijan Republic; natural and anthropogenic factors exerting influence on its degradation, elaboration of scientific- practical proposals on improvement of ecogeographical conditions.
